The secret to ICF’s and energy savings is the performance of the “Thermal Mass” of the ICF wall. Design energy savings into your home!

  • Safety and Security - Homes built with ICFs offer resistance to natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires and floods. Because ICF homes have reinforced concrete walls, they stand up to the stresses created by wind and water.

  • Health - Homes built with ICFs have superior indoor air quality - The impermeable concrete walls prevent the entry of dust, pollens and pollution. Homes build with ICFs are also Mold and Mildew Resistant, creating a interior healthier quality.

  • Energy Efficient Mortgages - Available on homes build with ICFs, Energy Efficient Mortgages make it easier for borrowers to qualify for loans to purchase homes with specific energy-efficiency improvements. Lenders can offer conventional Energy Efficient Morgages, FHA EEMs, or VA EEMs. Afford more pay less.

This is why Energy Efficient Mortgages work:
Energy - efficient homes cost less to own than non-efficent homes after construction is complete:

  • Proven Energy Performance - Combining polystyrene, concrete and rebar steel reinforcement with tighter construction yields efficient thermal mass in the walls. Walls built with ICFs conserve heating and cooling energy much better than conventional wood-frame walls. As well as reducing monthly energy costs, this conservation also allows for the use of smaller heating and cooling equipment which can save money in construction. Monthly Heating/Cooling bills have averaged 1-1/2 cents per square foot--- that’s $60 per month for heating and cooling a 4000 sf home!

Based on a cost analysis of annual heating and air-conditioning a ICF home shows only $0.1104 per square foot to heat and cool the home.

  • Green Building - ICFs offer both energy efficiency and low environmental impact. Why? Because building with ICFs minimizes the number of different building products involved in home building, reduces the amount of waste generated on the construction site and lowers energy requirements for heating and cooling in the finished home.
